Donum
performance
duration:
3h 47' 32"
location:
Castello Caracciolo, Sammichele (BA), Italy
note:
The performer is presented inside a plexyglass case that is located between mounds of earth, the structure takes on a pyramidal shape. At the center of the case there is a circular hole with a diameter of 15 centimeters, from there the spectators drop the earth.
The performer after several hours acts to span the condensate and after having totally polished it tries to raise the case stuck between the mounds of earth.
The work is an invitation to reconnect with the earth, as a gift and ancestral matter of connection.
The artist uses her phobia linked to asphyxiation to create a bond with the land that is given to her. The performance is a work of resistance both for the immobility and for the cold of the context and the damp earth.
